Rekha Sharma lashes out at Prime Minister Oli and former king

Feb 25, Kathmandu- Rekha Sharma, an MP from the main opposition CPN-Maoist Centre, has said that the government is continuously exerting pressure on the parliament.

Speaking during a special session of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, MP Sharma said that the fact that ministers are amending bills passed by the parliament and issuing ordinances without even withdrawing the bills under consideration in the parliament has confirmed the government's continuous pressure on the parliament.

MP Sharma argued that the government has become a place where the ruling party MPs, not the government, are answering questions posed by MPs. She demanded that the Speaker rule, saying that Parliament should be able to exercise its powers in accordance with the principle of separation of powers.

Sharma objected to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's derogatory remarks about her after reaching Dang. Oli had said that the people of Dang made a mistake by defeating UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel in the 2079 elections and electing Sharma. She objected to that.

MP Sharma objected to the statement made by former King Gyanendra Shah on the occasion of Democracy Day and suggested that he open a party and enter politics.

She demanded that the government inform the House about the preparations made to get out of the gray list by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), an international body that monitors money laundering.

Sharma also warned former King Gyanendra not to make too many mistakes. She suggested that former King Gyanendra should open a party if he wants to enter politics.
