Foreign Minister says - No accurate information about Bipin, initiative for release continues

Feb 28, Kathmandu- Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba has said that accurate information about the condition of Nepali youth Bipin Joshi, who is under the control of Hamas, has not been received.

Speaking to media persons at Tribhuvan International Airport after returning home on Friday after attending the 58th High-Level Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, Minister Rana said that although accurate information about Bipin Joshi has not been received, initiatives are being taken for his release.

She said that if there were Nepalese in Hamas's custody, they would be released, she said, and that she had received assurances from the international community. She mentioned that maximum diplomatic initiatives had been taken for the release of Bipin Joshi.

Similarly, she informed that Nepal was urged to vote for a member of the Human Rights Council at the high-level session. She said that she was informed about Nepal's commitment to the protection and promotion of human rights.

She informed that she had important bilateral meetings with foreign ministers of various countries while in Geneva. Minister Dr. Deuba had reached Geneva last Saturday leading a six-member Nepali delegation.
