Mar 01, Kathmandu- The study of naturopathic medicine is about to begin for the first time in Nepal. Preparations to operate the Naturopathic Hospital in Devchuli-16, Nawalpur, as a teaching hospital to teach naturopathic medicine are gaining momentum. This is the first time that studies in this subject are about to begin in Nepal.
The hospital has prepared to become a teaching hospital after getting affiliation from Nepal Sanskrit University, said hospital manager Hari Sapkota. "We have submitted the details of all preparations including the curriculum to the university, the necessary infrastructure has been built in a hurry. Some things are in the pipeline," said Sapkota. He said that a proposal has been submitted to Nepal Sanskrit University to run Bachelor of Naturopathy and Yoga Science (BNYS) classes at the hospital in the first year.
Sapkota says that they are confident that the upcoming Senate of the university will approve it. The National Planning Commission has allocated Rs 124.6 million through a special grant for the construction of the Naturopathy Teaching Hospital. Out of this amount, a building worth Rs 50 million is under construction this year, and plans have been made to construct the building by spending Rs 74.6 million next year. "If we get the connection, the teaching hospital can be operated this year, otherwise from next year. There is no lack of preparation on our part. We want to develop the hospital as a pride of the country," Sapkota said.
