Need to provide equal access to health for citizens: President

Mar 04, Kathmandu- President Ram Chandra Poudel has said that the focus should be on providing equal access to health for the common citizen and improving the quality of health services in accordance with the spirit of the constitution.

Addressing a program organized by the Nepal Medical Association, he said that the investment made by the nation in producing skilled and expert doctors is in accordance with the spirit and essence of the constitution and said – “I am also confident that doctors will view this profession from the perspective of service, imbibing this spirit and essence of the constitution.”

President Poudel clarified that the Federal Democratic Republic Constitution, achieved through the great struggle, sacrifice and sacrifice of the Nepali people, has ensured the provision of basic needs such as health and education to the Nepali citizens.

He said that there is still a situation in which citizens in remote areas of the country are not able to receive appropriate health services and said that it is necessary to take this situation seriously and provide the services of skilled and expert doctors to every corner of the country.

He said, "On this special occasion today, I also call upon everyone to contribute to the overall development of the health sector from their respective fields." President Poudel said that it is a happy fact that the country's health education is improving and skilled and expert doctors are being produced in Nepal, and he mentioned that he has personally experienced that quality health services and treatment are starting to be provided in Nepal.

He said that despite the improvement in health services, there are complaints that the entire workforce is not getting enough opportunities and that the increasing trend of doctors going abroad is a matter of concern, and the relevant parties should take appropriate steps to stop this.

President Poudel said that the role of the Nepal Medical Association will be more effective in the coming days to significantly improve the country's health sector and ensure quality health services.

On the occasion, President Poudel honored Dr. Gauri Shankar Lal Das, Dr. Mrigendra Raj Pandey, Dr. Dinesh Nath Gangol, Dr. DB Karki and Dr. Saraswati Padhye from the Legend in Medicine.
