Japan's Labor Market Remains Stable

Mar 04, Kathmandu- Japan's unemployment rate was 2.5 percent in January, unchanged from the previous month, according to data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.

Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications has said that the number of employed persons in January reached 677,900, an increase of 650,000 compared to a year ago.

The number of unemployed people rose to 3.3 percent month-on-month in January as people voluntarily quit their jobs to find new ones.

Japan's nationwide job-to-applicant ratio was 1.26 in January, meaning there were 126 jobs for every 100 job seekers, up 0.01 point from the previous month, data released by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare showed.

According to the ministry, some companies are increasing their job vacancies due to labor shortage, while others are struggling to hire new employees due to rising costs.
