Mar 04, Kathmandu- The government is set to present five ordinances in the House of Representatives meeting on Wednesday.
The land ordinance issued by President Ram Chandra Poudel on Magh 2 will not be moved forward immediately. Nepali Congress Chief Whip Shyam Ghimire said that there has been an agreement to present five ordinances in both houses, except for land.
"We had held talks repeatedly. We made this preparation after the Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal and the Loktantrik Samajwadi Party also agreed to move forward with other ordinances besides the land ordinance," Ghimire told Khabarhub. "The option of moving forward with the land ordinance is yet to be discussed. Now, other ordinances will move forward."
The government is about to submit an ordinance to amend some Nepal Acts related to promoting good governance and public service delivery, the first amendment ordinance on financial procedures and fiscal responsibility, the first amendment ordinance on privatization, and an ordinance to amend some Nepal Acts related to improving the economic and business environment and promoting investment to the parliament.
Opposition parties were raising questions saying that the government had brought the ordinance by bypassing the parliament. There is a legal provision that all these ordinances must be passed within 60 days of the start of the parliament session. The 60 days to pass the ordinance by the parliament will end on Chaitra 17.
