Coalition Of Both Ruling And Opposition Parties In Nepal Bar

Mar 06, Kathmandu- Both the ruling and opposition parties have formed an alliance in the Nepal Bar Association elections. From the ruling Nepali Congress and CPN-UML alliance, Bijay Prasad Misra of the Democratic Lawyers Association (DLA) is the candidate for president, while Kedar Koirala of the Progressive Lawyers Association (PLA) is the candidate for general secretary.

In the opposition alliance, Raman Shrestha of the Progressive Professional Lawyers Association (PPLA) close to the CPN-Maoist Center has filed his candidacy. Yagyamani Neupane of the Independent Lawyers Forum close to the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is the candidate for general secretary. From this alliance, the CPN-Unified Socialist has taken the vice-president.

The Bar election will be held on Chaitra 23. This election will elect a new 25-member working committee. The last date for registering candidacies for the election has been set for Falgun 22. The election committee has stated that candidacies can be registered from 11 am to 3 pm.
