Australian Scientists Discover World's Oldest Meteorite Crater

Mar 06, Kathmandu- Australian scientists have discovered the world's oldest known meteorite impact crater. According to a study published on Thursday, it gave rise to life and extinguished the Earth's reshaping.

Recently, the layers of rock in the North Pole Dome were explored and evidence of a large meteorite impact three and a half billion years ago was found.

According to co-lead author Professor Chris Kirkland, the discovery sheds new light on how meteorites shaped Earth's early atmosphere.

This meteorite is estimated to have hit this area at a speed of more than 36 thousand kilometers per hour, resulting in the formation of a crater more than a hundred kilometers wide and which may have sent debris flying around the world.
