At a press conference organized at the Ministry of Communications today, he urged them to be listed with the ministry as per the Guidelines for Regulating the Use of Social Media, 2080.

Earlier, the ministry had asked social media platforms like X, Facebook, and Instagram for listing. Following the ministry's call, BitTorch was listed on Kartik 8, Viber on Falgun 24 last year, and TikTok on Kartik 8 last year.

Minister Gurung said that as per the Directive on Regulating the Use of Social Media, 2080, it has been made mandatory to be listed with the Ministry of Communications. “We have written to the social media platform requesting them to be listed,” he said. “We will call for it again, and if they fail to do so, we will bring them under the legal ambit.”
