Mar 09, Kathmandu- Prime Minister and Chancellor of Sudurpaschim University KP Sharma Oli has said that Geta Medical College in Kailali will soon be upgraded to a medical university.
Speaking at the fifth convocation ceremony and special assembly of Sudurpaschim University, he said that he has been raising the issue of making Geta Medical College a national medical university for a long time and urged people to be confident about its establishment. “This is a matter of happiness,” he said, “There is no medical university in any region of Nepal, now it will be established here.”
He said that he had raised the issue with his Indian counterpart when he was the Prime Minister regarding the bridge connecting the Parshuram area of Dadeldhura and the bridge to be built in the border area. Prime Minister Oli expressed his commitment to take initiatives for the construction of a concrete bridge in that area.
In a separate context, the Prime Minister said that the construction of dry ports at the Postal Highway, Daiji Chhela Industrial Area, and Dodhara-Chandani will also begin soon. He also informed that discussions are ongoing with the Indian government to build the dry port.
The special guest of the convocation ceremony was Prof. Dr. Satpal Singh, Chancellor of Soban Singh Jinnah University, Uttarakhand, India. 372 people were consecrate today. They have obtained bachelor's and master's degrees in humanities and sociology, education, management, engineering, and agricultural science.
