Mar 11, Kathmandu- President Ram Chandra Paudel has said that the role of Parliament should be made more effective to make the government responsible and accountable to the people.
At a program organized at Sheetal Niwas on Tuesday, he emphasized the need to strengthen federalism, good governance, transparency, and the rule of law, as well as to make the role of parliament more effective in making the government responsible and accountable to the people.
He said that there is a need for initiative and readiness to develop the Parliament as a place where the voice of the sovereign people is voiced. President Paudel opined that the Parliament should establish itself as a place for effective lawmaking, budget formulation, policy formulation and raising the voice of the people.
President Paudel has said that the parliament should adopt an effective parliamentary oversight process to create inclusive, long-term and development-friendly legal structures. Handing over the Pokhara Declaration to President Poudel, Speaker of the House of Representatives Devraj Ghimire said that provisions should be made in the law itself to monitor the implementation of laws made by the parliament.
