Mar 11, Kathmandu- Talks between Ukrainian and American delegations began in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday with the aim of ending the three-year war in Ukraine.
According to the American media outlet CNN, discussions have begun between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian officials in Saudi Arabia. It is said that the discussion is becoming positive.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the talks were held to get information about the latest state of mind in Ukraine.
Speaking to reporters, he said, “The talks were held to get information about how Ukraine is preparing to end the war and what agreements can be reached.”
He said that these talks will be decisive for the decision to maintain or lift the US military aid and intelligence restrictions on Ukraine.
“Ukraine’s situation is in ‘listening mode’. There is no situation for it to say anything right now. The outcome of these talks could affect the future relationship between the US and Ukraine,” Rubio said.
The United States and Ukraine are trying to mend ties after a tense meeting at the White House between President Donald Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky a few days ago.
Zelensky has said the goal of the talks is to maintain peace, but he will not attend the meeting.
The talks are considering the possibility of a ceasefire in the context of US-Ukraine relations and the impact it could have on Eastern Europe.
The outcome of the talks is said to help end the war between Ukraine and Russia. While the United States is actively trying to end the war, Russia is escalating its attacks on Ukraine. The United States has recently stopped providing military and economic assistance to Ukraine.
