Mar 14, Kathmandu- Minister for Forests and Environment Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri has said that climate change has seriously affected people living in different geographical areas of Nepal.
Minister Shahi made the remarks while delivering a speech on behalf of Nepal at the ‘Ministerial Roundtable on the Interconnection of Water Security, Climate, Nature and Development’ held in the UK on Falgun 29. At the event, Minister Shahi highlighted the initiatives taken by the Government of Nepal to address the life-and-death challenges posed by climate change on Nepal’s ecosystem and livelihoods.
On the occasion, he also informed about the Sagarmatha Sambad 2025 that Nepal is going to organize. After the program, Minister Shahi also participated in the Water and Climate Welcome Ceremony organized by the British King Charles III. Minister Shahi has reached the UK to participate in the program organized by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. Minister Shahi's secretariat has stated that he is scheduled to return to Nepal in Chaitra. The program was attended by ministers from various countries affected by climate change and water insecurity, climate change and nature experts, representatives of various international organizations including the Global Commission on the Economics of Water.
