Prachanda's Emphasis On Addressing Teachers' Demands

Mar 15, Kathmandu- Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has stressed that the government should address the demands of the agitating teachers immediately.

In a meeting today with a delegation of the Nepal Teachers' Federation, which is on strike demanding the immediate passage of the School Education Bill, he said that the legitimate demands of the teachers should not be ignored.

"No matter how many amendments have been registered so far, some are of the same nature. Even if a subcommittee is formed, we can move towards passing the bill immediately," he said, emphasizing the need to pass the bill immediately. "The main thing is willpower.

The government should give priority to education and teachers." Stating that a single perspective has not been reached on the demands of teachers and the overall educational sector, Chairman Dahal urged the government to be serious in addressing the demands as education is the main basis of the country's prosperity, according to his personal secretariat. He has also expressed his commitment that the Maoist Center will play a special role in getting the bill passed.
