Mar 21, Kathmandu- Minister for Water Supply Pradeep Yadav has said that politics is being played out in water sources.
He said this while participating in a question-and-answer program with the minister in the National Assembly on Friday.
‘The source belongs to the Government of Nepal. We will now end the politics of not allowing water to flow from one ward to another by someone being a bully,’ he said.
He said that the government will allocate the necessary budget for source protection. ‘This time, the Ministry of Food and Agriculture will move forward with a special budget for source protection across the country,’ he said.
According to Minister Yadav, currently 27 percent of the citizens have access to clean drinking water. He said that this figure has increased, but the data is yet to be updated.
He also said that the government has plans to work at a faster pace.
"We have made a plan to provide clean water to 57 percent within a year", he said. He said that this goal is complex, but the work is progressing.
