Mar 22, Kathmandu- The United States is set to deport more than 530,000 immigrants.
President Donald Trump's administration has said it will revoke the temporary legal status of immigrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela and deport them.
According to a notice issued by the federal government, immigrants living in the United States without a legal basis have been warned to leave the country before their work permits and protection from deportation are revoked.
Under the Biden administration, 530,000 immigrants were brought to the United States under a program called CHNV.
The program was intended to open the way for legal immigration. But Trump suspended the program after becoming president.
However, it is still unclear how many of these immigrants have received legal grounds to stay in the United States legally during this period.
The program was launched by former President Joe Biden in 2022. It was initially designed for the people of Venezuela, but later many other countries joined it.
