Tiktok Launches Security Checkup Tool To Protect Against Cyber Attacks

Mar 23, Kathmandu- The video-sharing platform 'Tiktok' has announced the launch of a new security tool called Security Checkup. This ‘centralized dashboard’ is designed to help users easily secure their accounts.

This tool can be found in the ‘Settings and Privacy’ section under the ‘Security and Permissions’ option in the app.

It offers various security options, such as linking your account to a phone number or email address, ensuring you have a backup method of logging in, enabling two-factor authentication, and enabling biometric authentication login options such as facial recognition or fingerprint.

This tool provides the ability to revoke access to any unknown or no longer-in-use devices that are viewing the device associated with the account, monitor any suspicious activity on the account, and alert the user to take appropriate action.

Tiktok’s move comes when cyberattacks are on the rise, which has necessitated increased security standards. Through the ‘Security Check’ tool, the platform aims to provide a safe user experience by reducing the risk of account takeover or hacking.

Tiktok is expected to gradually launch this tool in different regions, after which it will be made available to all users worldwide.
