Mar 23, Kathmandu- The stock market has witnessed a sharp decline on Sunday, the first day of the week. The NEPSE index has fallen by 54.62 points (2.04 percent) compared to the previous day.
After that decline, the NEPSE has remained at 2,614 points. The market has been in a continuous downward trend since the opening. The trading volume has also increased. The previous day's trading volume was 4.56 billion, which was 6.32 billion today.
A total of 13 companies increased their prices while 230 decreased. All sector indices decreased. Banking 1.47, Development Bank 2.42, Finance 2.99, Hotel and Tourism 2.23, Hydropower 2.33, Investment 2.05, Life Insurance 1.85, Manufacturing and Processing 1.46, Microfinance 2.36, Non-Life Insurance 2.07, Others 1.74 and Trade 2.85 percent decreased.
Debentures were the most profitable on the day. ICFCD 88 increased its price by 3.89, Kutheli Bukhari Small Hydro by 2.8, NICAD 8283 by 2 and SBDB 87 by 2 percent.
Mithila Laghubitta's price fell by 10 percent. Bhool Energy's price fell by 7.2 percent, Sayapatri Hydro's by 6.4 percent, Mayakhola Hydro's by 5.66 percent, and Upper Solu Hydro's by 5.46 percent.
Himalayan Reinsurance, NRN Infrastructure, Nepal Punarbima, United Modi Hydropower, and Sindhu Bikas Bank were the top performers in terms of transaction value.
