14 Killed In Israeli Strikes On Gaza Since Midnight

Mar 25, Kathmandu- A week after Israel's latest attack, Gaza's civil defense said on Tuesday that 14 people had been killed in Israeli attacks since midnight in the war-torn Palestinian territory.

Israeli aircraft carried out more than 20 strikes in Gaza, killing at least 14 people, including women and children, spokesman Mahmoud Bassal said.

He said five people were killed and 12 wounded in a morning raid in the Zaitoun neighborhood of Gaza City, and nine people, including a couple and their three children, were killed in an attack in the southern area of Khan Yunis.

When contacted by AFP on Tuesday, the army confirmed the overnight raid in Gaza, describing it as part of a “counter-terrorism” operation.

Israel resumed intensive airstrikes across Gaza a week ago after talks with the Palestinian militant group Hamas to extend a ceasefire stalled.

The Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry said 730 people had been killed since Israel resumed its bombardment on Monday, March 18.

Late Monday, Israeli military spokesman Avichai Adraee issued a warning to evacuate the northern area of Jabalia ahead of the attack.

“Terrorist groups are once again returning and are firing rockets from populated areas... For your safety, immediately move south to known shelters,” Adraee told AXA after issuing a similar warning for the northern towns of Beit Lahia and Beit Hanoun.

Civil Defense spokesman Bassal reported artillery fire in Beit Hanoun and Beit Lahia, as well as in the Khan Yunis area.

The Israeli military said late Monday that it had intercepted three “projectiles” fired from Gaza.
