Mar 27, Kathmandu- In the eight months of the current fiscal year, goods worth Rs 2.96 billion have been imported from Bangladesh and goods worth Rs 276.854 billion have been exported to that country.
According to Subash Pandey, head of Nepal Transit & Warehousing Company Ltd in Kakandbhitta, the largest import was unprocessed jute worth Rs 1.6 billion from Bangladesh. Similarly, other imported items include batteries, poultry feed supplements, cosmetic items, hydrogen peroxide, jute yarn, electrical appliances, medicines, potatoes, paper, glass, food and beverage goods.
A total of Rs 236.258 crore has been exported from Kakadbhitta. Herbs, household items and animal feed have also been exported to Bangladesh during the review period. Expressing concern over the inability to maintain a balance in bilateral trade, Chief Pandey said that this could be met through electricity exports.
