American Arrested For Supporting Monarchy, Says - I don't have a country, the earth is home

Mar 27, Kathmandu- A foreign national who was protesting at Maitighar Mandala against the dismissal of Nepal Electricity Authority Managing Director Kulman Ghising has been arrested.

Initially seen at Maitighar with a pamphlet in support of Kulman Ghising, he soon began to clash with the police while carrying pro-royalist posters.

He, who had been protesting in favor of Kulman for a short while and in favor of the monarchy for a short while, has now been arrested.

He, who claims to be an American citizen, was arrested by a team led by DSP Ganga Prasad Poudel of the Singha Durbar Police Circle.

He is currently being held at the Singha Durbar Police Station. He initially said he was not from any country. However, when questioned by the police, he introduced himself as an American citizen. His name is Julie and he also revealed that he is 58 years old.

Speaking broken Nepali, Hindi and fluent English, he may face deportation after engaging in political activities in Nepal. It has been revealed that he came to Nepal on a tourist visa with an American passport. It is also seen that he overstayed in Nepal.

According to DSP Poudel, the American citizen has said that he will bring his original passport. Even in the event of overstay, he can be deported according to the immigration law. Nepalese law prohibits any foreigner from engaging in political activities here.
