Mar 28, Kathmandu- It has been found that the Nepal Police used tear gas purchased to protect former King Gyanendra Shah's reign against the pro-monarchy protesters.
It has been found that the tear gas used by the police to control the protest in Kathmandu today for the restoration of the monarchy turned chaotic was purchased by Gyanendra Shah during his direct rule. The police fired tear gas which had expired in 2008 to control the violent royalist demonstration in Tinkune. The tear gas bottle that had already been used states that the tear gas expired in February 2008. That is, the tear gas used by the police expired before 19 Falgun 2064.
Most of the tear gas used to control the protests is expired and of different companies and dates. The tear gas canister received by Headline Nepal states that the tear gas had expired in 2018.
Nepal Police has been complaining from time to time about a shortage of tear gas. The use of tear gas in Tinkune has shown that the government is not paying attention to the purchase of tear gas, which is considered essential for riot control.
