Mar 29, Kathmandu- On Friday, 15 vehicles were damaged in the demonstration, vandalism and arson carried out by supporters of former King Gyanendra Shah.

According to the District Police Range, Kathmandu, a total of 15 vehicles were vandalized and set on fire, including nine government vehicles and six government/private unmarked vehicles, by the protesters.

A police study has shown that 14 places were set on fire during the demonstration, nine institutions and offices were vandalized, and the Bhatbhateni Supermarket in Koteshwor was vandalized and looted.

The police have stated that they carried out violent activities after obtaining prior permission for a peaceful demonstration. The police have stated, "During the demonstration coordinated by Nawaraj Subedi and led by Durga Prasai, they pelted stones at the police to break the restricted area, attacked the police with moving vehicles, and also committed violent vandalism and arson at various places on private property, hospitals, media houses, police offices, political party offices, commercial centers and other means of transportation, including setting fire to a house in Tinkune while people were inside, resulting in the death of a person."

Meanwhile, police have confirmed that 29-year-old Sabin Maharjan, a resident of Gamchha, Ward No. 4, Kirtipur Municipality, Kathmandu, was injured during the protest and died while undergoing treatment at the Maharajgunj Teaching Hospital, and that the body of journalist Suresh Rajak was found dead at the Marvel House in Tinkune. Police have also stated that 53 people from the Nepal Police, 22 from the Armed Police Force, Nepal, and 35 from the protesters were injured in the incident.
