Mar 30, Kathmandu- The air of Bhaisepati in Litpur has reached the dangerous level. The air quality index (AQI) in Bhaisepati area was 369 at around 2:30 pm on Sunday.
According to the Department of Environment, the air in three places in the Kathmandu Valley is unhealthy. The AQI of Shankha Park in Kathmandu was 169, Ratnapark was 154, and Khumaltamar in Lalitpur was 162. Apart from these, the AQI of other cities is less than 150.
Air with an AQI of 101 to 150 is unhealthy for children, the elderly, and those with chronic diseases. If it reaches 151 to 200, it is unhealthy for everyone.
Similarly, if it reaches 201 to 300, it is ‘very unhealthy’ and if it is above that, it is ‘hazardous’ and there is a World Health Organization (WHO) standard that is being developed.
