Durga Prasai, Dhawal Shamsher Rana And Rabindra Mishra Banned From Traveling Abroad

Mar 31, Kathmandu- The Ministry of Home Affairs has banned foreign travel of RPP leaders, including Durga Prasai, who was involved in the violent pro-monarchist movement. The Ministry of Home Affairs has decided to ban foreign travel of Prasai, commander of the Joint People's Movement Committee for the Restoration of the Monarchy, and RPP leaders Dhawal Shamsher Rana and Rabindra Mishra. Rana is a member of the House of Representatives from the RPP.

According to a high-ranking source in the Home Ministry, Prasai, Rana and Mishra, along with 10 other people involved in the violent royalist movement, have also been banned from traveling abroad. A Home Ministry source told Annapurna, "Some are being investigated by keeping them in police custody. We have also banned them from traveling abroad. Some other people who are under investigation have also been banned from traveling abroad."

Home sources said that 10 people involved in the violent royalist movement, including Prasai, Rana and Mishra, have been banned from traveling abroad. According to the source, the Home Ministry has issued a circular to all immigration offices and border crossings to monitor those who have been banned from traveling abroad.

Rana and Mishra have been taken into custody by the police on charges of being involved in anarchic activities during the pro-royalist movement in Tinkune on 15 Chaitra. The Kathmandu District Court on Sunday granted the police an additional five-day remand to investigate Rana and Mishra, who were arrested on the evening of the last movement (Friday). Prasai is absconding. However, he claimed in a video on Sunday that he was not absconding. However, he is listed as absconding on the police list.

Two people, including a journalist, have lost their lives in the violent protests by the royalists. Sabin Maharjan of Kirtipur Municipality-4 was shot by police and journalist Suresh Rajak died in arson by royalist supporters. Rajak is a journalist with Avenues Television.

Media houses, private properties and businesses were targeted in the violent activities in the name of royalism. The protesters had set fire to private media houses like Annapurna Post and Kantipur Television along with vandalizing them.

The protesters had vandalized and set fire to private buildings and vehicles in Tinkune, Baneshwor, Koteshwor, and Balkumari areas. They had also looted the Bhatbhateni Supermarket in Koteshwor. After the royalists became violent, a curfew was imposed in Tinkune area to control the situation.
