Body Of Chinese Tourist Missing In Avalanche Found

Apr 05, Kathmandu- The body of 28-year-old Chinese national Yi Cheng Yuan, who went missing in an avalanche in Chumrung, Deurali, Annapurna Rural Municipality-11, Kaski, has been found today, 13 days after he went missing.

The Special Disaster Rescue Team of the Armed Police Force Kalika Battalion Pokhara found his body 20 meters north of the Modi River bank in Chumrung, Deurali this morning, informed Kalika Battalion Chief Superintendent of Police Surya Prasad Timilsina. A police team was deployed in search of the tourist after he went missing while returning to Ghandruk after completing his trek to the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC). According to Superintendent of Police Timilsina, preparations are underway to bring his body to Pokhara.

An avalanche occurred at Chumrung in Deurali, Annapurna Rural Municipality-11, Kaski at 12:30 pm on Chaitra 11. Indian tourists returning from the base camp had informed the police that a person had been buried in an avalanche in Deurali. After the tourist went missing, local residents and a Nepal Police team searched but could not find him, and a police team under the command of Armed Police Inspector Bishwaraj Tripathi from Kalika Battalion was deployed since Chaitra 21.
