Nepal Bar vote Counting Begins Monday

Apr 06, Kathmandu- The counting of votes for the election held on Saturday for the 27th Central Working Committee of the Nepal Bar Association will begin on Monday.

The voting for the new working committee of the bar was held on Saturday. According to Chief Election Officer Senior Advocate Ram Krishna Nirala, the bar's ballot boxes will reach Kathmandu by this evening and the counting of votes will begin on Monday.

Out of 9,957 voters, 80 percent of the votes were cast to elect the new working committee of the Bar. A total of 57 candidates were nominated for the 25-member working committee.

Voting was held at a total of 36 polling stations in and outside Kathmandu. The competition for the new leadership of the Bar is between Senior Advocate Professor Dr. Bijay Prasad Mishra from the broad democratic, progressive, professional, nationalist and inclusive legal practitioners group and Senior Advocate Raman Kumar Shrestha from the professional legal practitioners group.

Senior Advocate Kedar Prasad Koirala is the general secretary in Senior Advocate Mishra's group, while Advocate Yagya Mani Neupane is the candidate in Senior Advocate Shrestha's group.
