Apr 07, Kathmandu- Kathmandu Metropolitan City employees have received their salaries with the return of the Chief Administrative Officer.

Metropolitan City spokesperson Nabin Manandhar informed Nepal Khabar that the employees have received their salaries that have been outstanding for the past 3 months.

‘Everyone’s salaries for the past 3 months have reached their accounts,’ he said, ‘some were still outstanding for 4/5 months.’

Chief Administrative Officer Saroj Guragai was forced into her office in the metropolis by people's representatives, including Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol, by breaking the glass of the window, despite the protests of Mayor Balendra Shah.

Guragai, who had forcibly entered the office in the metropolis last Thursday, left without hindrance on Friday.

As soon as he reached the office on Friday, he had assigned a file to release the withheld salaries of the employees.

The work of releasing salaries in the metropolis is done through the Finance Department. As soon as Guragai arrived at the office, the amount in the revenue account consolidated fund was transferred to the expenditure account, and the salaries were transferred to the employees' accounts.

The decision is made only by the Chief Administrative Officer. The Finance Department and the Chief Administrative Officer had signed the file for the transfer of funds and the process was initiated.

Guragai, who had been on leave since Paush 7, had gone to the office on Thursday. Tension had arisen in the metropolis when he went to the office. Metropolitan Mayor Balendra Shah's party tried to stop him, while most of the ward chairmen and employees, including Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol, insisted on allowing him to enter the office.
