Apr 07, Kathmandu- Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Devendra Dahal has said that the operation of vehicles that violate standards will be banned in coordination with the Ministry of Home Affairs.
In a discussion with transport entrepreneurs and workers at the ministry on Monday, he said that since the Road and Transport Department alone would not be able to stop the operation of vehicles operating against the rules, coordination would also be done with the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Similarly, he said that priority would be given to the management of alternative routes and diversions to prevent vehicle obstruction at construction sites.
Stating that the repair of the BP Highway connecting Kathmandu and eastern Nepal has been expedited, he mentioned that the repair of the Kanti Lokpath, which is used as an alternative road, has also been taken forward with priority.
Similarly, Secretary of the Ministry, Keshav Kumar Sharma, said that further coordination will be done with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Traffic Police and other agencies and the federal government to make the transport operation systematic.
Stating that the ministry is serious about the problems faced by vehicles and passengers due to the ongoing construction work on the Daunne road section, he informed that arrangements have been made to allow freight and passenger vehicles to pass at appropriate times.
He claimed that since the construction of the section has been given top priority, transportation will be facilitated soon.
Federation of Transport Entrepreneurs President Vijay Swar, Senior Vice President Saroj Sitaula, General Secretary Degnath Gautam, and representatives of various labor organizations were present at the program.
