Oli said in the Madhesh Provincial Assembly: Democracy must be strengthened

Apr 08, Kathmandu- Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has urged people to strengthen the democratic republic by serving the people with a pure spirit, with a firm resolve for good governance.

Addressing the Madhesh Provincial Assembly today, Prime Minister Oli made it clear that the first right of the people is freedom from poverty, and that other rights have no meaning in the face of poverty, and called for moving forward together on the journey of development and prosperity.

"The federal democratic republican system is our achievement. This achievement should not be considered only as a political achievement but as an achievement achieved through the struggle of the people. Therefore, our efforts should be dedicated to serving the people. We should work for a perfect democracy," he said. "The people seek the achievement of change in the interest of their stomachs, their bodies and their descendants. Therefore, we must provide democracy in the lives of the people. Democracy should flourish in the entire social life. For that, the society must be led towards development and good governance."

Prime Minister Oli said that the social and cultural solidarity, tolerance and harmony of Madhesh Province are very beautiful aspects and highly praised the contribution of the disciplined, conscious and development-loving citizens here to maintaining Nepal's independence, sovereignty, geographical integrity, national unity, independence and self-respect.

Stating that the constitution has granted autonomy to the provinces and that it is everyone's responsibility to utilize this autonomy properly, Prime Minister Oli said that the provincial government will have a special role in making coordination between the federal, provincial and local levels, policy formulation and development work effectively.

Prime Minister Oli said that the fertile land of Madhesh Province is suitable for agriculture and that the Chure region has immense resources of herbs, forests and water. He expressed his belief that programs like the Sunkoshi Diversion Project will increase national production and productivity through irrigation in Madhesh and create a sense of unity between the hills and the Terai.

Prime Minister Oli said that since the industrial area, petroleum pipeline, railway, Asian Highway, postal road, diplomatic route, Ram Raja Prasad Singh Hospital are the basis for the development and prosperity of Madhesh, the ICP and the major customs checkpoint Birgunj can be developed as an economic center and the ancient city of Janakpurdham can be developed as a base for cultural tourism.

Recalling that he had opposed the railway without being heard, he said that since rail travel in Janakpur is now easy, there is nothing that cannot be done if you want to do it.

'The opposition should be constructive. "The government should also think of taking the opposition along and making this province a model province in the country," he said. "I call upon them to formulate appropriate policies and work accordingly with unity and consistency. The federal government will provide all possible support in the development work here."

Prime Minister Oli recalled the knowledge and pride of the ancestors in Madhesh Province, which is the land of great personalities and scholars like Rajarshi Janak, Mata Sita, Maharshi Parashuram, Mahakavi Bidyapati, and gods and goddesses like Chinnamasta and Gadhimai, and emphasized the need to work on the achievements and modern development of the future.
