Apr 08, Kathmandu- The gang rape of a young woman in Banaras, Uttar Pradesh, India, has come to light. According to BBC Hindi, a case has been registered against 23 people involved in this heinous crime.
The police have taken six accused into custody and started an investigation. The complaint states that she was taken to various places and raped between March 29 and April 4. Her mother has filed a complaint with the police.
The complaint mentions the names of 12 accused. However, the identities of 11 are yet to be revealed. The police have registered a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and started an investigation.
According to police officer Chandrakant Meena, the girl had gone to her friend's house on March 29. However, on April 4, her family filed a missing complaint with the police. The police found her on the same day. At that time, no gang rape complaint was registered. According to DCP Meena, the family filed the complaint only on April 6.
