Swiss Ambassador Meets Chief Minister Karki

Apr 08, Kathmandu- Koshi Province Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki and Swiss Ambassador Dr. Danielle Meuwly Monteleone met today.

During the meeting, discussions were held on the development and prosperity of Koshi Province and bilateral interests, informed Chief Minister Karki's press advisor Bikram Luintel. Swiss Ambassador Dr. Meuwly said that the initiative shown by the provincial government for economic prosperity through tourism was commendable and informed that Switzerland is ready to work to promote tourism.

He expressed hope that the investment conference to be held by the provincial government would create an investment-friendly environment and promote employment. Stating that the diplomatic relations with Nepal are long, he also expressed happiness that for the first time after federalism, he was able to move forward by collaborating with the Koshi Provincial Government.

Ambassador Meuwly expressed his commitment to collaborate in governance reform, promotion of good governance and building a technology-friendly Koshi Province, and mentioned that it was easy to work with the current leadership. He praised the goals, objectives and priorities of the provincial government.

On the occasion, Ambassador Myawli promised to increase private sector cooperation, promote professional skills and support tourism development plans. During the meeting, Chief Minister Karki discussed the province's efforts in the tourism sector for economic prosperity and expressed gratitude for the Swiss government's support in the development of trekking routes, economic prosperity, good governance, and governance reforms.

Chief Minister Karki expressed the view that work has been started to increase revenue and that this will help in mobilizing resources for the development of the province. He urged the Swiss ambassador to support the development and tourism sectors along with the good governance work done by the province government.
