One Dead, Two Injured In Lightning Strike In Makawanpur

Apr 13, Kathmandu- One person was killed and two others were injured after being struck by lightning on the banks of the Rapti River in Basantapur, Manahari Rural Municipality-5, Makawanpur.

Members of the same family were struck by lightning while returning to Dardara from a relative's house in Dillipur at around 3:40 pm on Saturday.

Abiral Theeng, 28, a resident of Dardara, died on the spot after being struck by lightning, the District Police Office, Makawanpur, has said.

The deceased's 56-year-old father, Singh Bahadur Thing, and 10-year-old Saugat Gole were injured in the incident.

According to the police, Singh Bahadur's condition is moderate, while Saugat's condition is normal. Before the police team reached the spot, locals had sent the injured to Chitwan for treatment.

Police said that further investigation into the incident is currently underway.
