Resident Doctors' Demands Remain Unaddressed For 13 Days

Apr 15, Kathmandu- Even on the 13th day of the protest, the demands of resident doctors have not been addressed. Resident doctors of private medical colleges have been protesting for 13 days, demanding a living allowance equal to that of government resident doctors (level 8).

Resident doctors studying in various medical colleges in Nepal have launched a protest for their rights at the call of the Safe Workplace for Health Workers Committee.

The 16th meeting of the Medical Education Commission had directed private medical colleges to provide resident doctors with a subsistence allowance equal to that of government resident doctors (level 8). However, since the private medical colleges have not implemented the directive given by the commission, resident doctors studying in private medical colleges across the country have been on strike for 13 days, according to the committee's spokesperson Dr. Sanjay Baral.
