Apr 17, Kathmandu- Sumana Shrestha, the joint general secretary of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has resigned from her post.
Shrestha, who is also an MP, has submitted her resignation from the post of party joint general secretary. It is understood that she resigned from the post, citing the current need for legislative role rather than the party's responsibility as the role of the party was not strong in the House.
The resignation letter will be submitted in the central committee meeting to be held today.
The meeting to be chaired by acting president DP Aryal will discuss the latest political developments in the country, the party's upcoming activities, the decisions of the previous meeting, the blueprint task force, and brief reporting of members. Similarly, the meeting is said to take a concrete decision on the party's Janayatra. The RSP had started the Janayatra from Chitwan on Chaitra 23. However, confusion has arisen with the order of the Tulsipur High Court on Chaitra 22 to send party president Rabi Lamichhane to detention, reversing the Rupandehi District Court's decision to release him on bail.
