Apr 18, Kathmandu- Preparations are underway to release RPP General Secretary Dr. Dhawal Shamsher Rana, who is currently in custody in the Tinkune incident, for treatment.
General Secretary Rana, who is suffering from cancer, is undergoing treatment in Mumbai, India. He returned from treatment in India only last month.
According to a Home Ministry source, preparations are underway to let Rana go for follow-up treatment and release him after taking legal action upon his return.
Police arrested Rana and senior vice-chairman of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Rabindra Mishra on charges of involvement in the Tinkune incident on Chaitra 15.
Meanwhile, the Janandolan Mobilization Committee, formed to restore the monarchy, has also issued a statement saying that the government has stopped Rana from going for treatment and has urged the national and international human rights community to raise their voices to ensure that Rana receives treatment at the same doctor and hospital as before.
