Apr 18, Kathmandu- Gandaki Heroes have won the second edition of the KP Oli Cup T-20 National Open Men's Club Cricket Tournament held in Pokhara. Gandaki emerged champions after defeating CEC Kathmandu by 5 wickets in the final match.
Chasing a target of 183 runs, Gandaki Heroes won the match by scoring 185 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 17.3 overs. Gandaki's Kiran Thaguna hit a brilliant half-century of 52 runs. He was also declared the 'Player of the Match'. Basanta Karki scored 27 runs in 17 balls, including 3 sixes, and Narayan Joshi scored 13 runs in 10 balls to lead the team to victory.
Earlier, Kathmandu, who won the toss and batted first, scored 182 runs in 19.4 overs. Arjun Gharti scored 68 and Prithu Baskota scored 50 runs. Gandaki's Amrit Gurung and Krish Dhakal took 3 wickets each.
Kathmandu's Dipendra Rawat was declared the 'Player of the Tournament' and received Rs 30,000. Attariya's Bipin Rawal was declared the best batsman and Lumbini's Ajay Chauhan was declared the best bowler—both received Rs 20,000 each.
16 teams were participating in the competition, including 4 from Bagmati and 2 each from other provinces. The organizer, Madan Bhandari Sports Academy, has now announced that it will form its own cricket team.
