Apr 19, Kathmandu- Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has said that there is no problem in the relationship between the ruling coalition parties Nepali Congress and the Communist Party of Nepal (UML).
At a press meet organized by the Nepal Press Union Kaski in Pokhara today, he clarified that there is a cordial relationship between the two parties in the power-sharing arrangement.
Stating that the government is functioning with mutual consent, he said, "Our friends keep saying that the government will fall, but we have to keep saying that it will not fall." He said that the people did not like anti-constitutional and anti-democratic activities.
Stating that there must be a free press and media in a democracy, Home Minister Lekhak presented examples of how the media is often the first target of those who oppose democracy.
Stating that the formation of seven constitutions in the country in a span of seven decades shows instability, he expressed his commitment that the current constitution will not be allowed to become inactive, and expressed the view that the Home Minister should learn from the shortcomings and be vigilant to prevent such a thing from happening again.
Stating that preparations have been made to present a bill in the House regarding the issuance of citizenship certificates in the name of the mother, he expressed confidence that this problem would be resolved soon.
In a separate context, he clarified that there is no problem in the appointment of the governor and said that the right person will be appointed to the right position. He said that the government is committed to meeting the demands of teachers.
