Apr 19, Kathmandu- Nepal has failed to qualify for the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup after rain became a hindrance. Afghanistan qualified for the World Cup after the match against Afghanistan under the ICC U-19 Men's Cricket World Cup Asia Qualifiers was called off due to rain.
The match was scheduled to be played at 9:30 am today at the Lower Mulpani Cricket Ground here. However, the match was postponed due to rain. Despite the work of drying the water-soaked field, the match could not be played due to lack of time.
Today's match was important for both the teams. Both the teams had won three matches each in the tournament. After the match was affected by rain, both the teams shared one point each. Although both the teams had the same 7 points, Afghanistan qualified for the World Cup based on run rate.
The ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup will be held in Zimbabwe and Namibia in 2026.
