Traffic Banned On Roads Around Singha Durbar, riot squad deployed

Apr 20, Kathmandu- Security has been tightened around Singha Durbar in view of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) protest. Traffic has been banned on all roads in the main administrative center Singha Durbar area.

The roads leading to Singha Durbar South Gate, Hanumanthan, Anamnagar, Baidhyakhana, New Plaza, Singha Durbar West Gate and the Ministry of Health are deserted.

The road has been blocked by placing a barricade there. That is why the roads are deserted.

A large number of security personnel are deployed. Riot control forces have been deployed around the walls of Singha Durbar.

Riot control teams and water cannons have also been deployed near the Annapurna Neuro Hospital in Maitighar.

Entry into the Singha Palace has also been restricted for the general public. A limited number of visitors have been allowed to enter only after being questioned by security personnel.

The RPP has organized a demonstration in Kathmandu today demanding a judicial investigation into the Tinkune incident and the release of its arrested leaders.

Before going to the protest site, the police have taken the leaders including RPP Chairman Rajendra Lingden under control from inside Singha Durbar. After they demonstrated inside Singha Durbar carrying pamphlets with their demands written on them, the police have taken them under control and taken them to the Kathmandu Police Complex. Other leaders and activists have demonstrated demanding the release of Chairman Lingden and others.

Traffic management has become chaotic today due to the RPP protest.
