Apr 22, Kathmandu- Three children have died in Dhanusha after consuming poison, while the mother is in critical condition. Sushil Sah's 8-year-old son Aditya Sah, four-year-old daughter Aakriti Sah, and two-year-old daughter Aarushi Sah died after consuming poison in Basudevpatti, Sahidnagar Municipality-5, according to the District Police Office, Dhanusha.

Shah's 30-year-old wife, Babita Shah, is in critical condition.

All three children, who were in critical condition after consuming poison, were taken to the Janakpur Provincial Hospital. All three died during treatment. Babita, who is in critical condition, is being treated at the same hospital, the police said.

Police said that initial investigations have revealed that Babita poisoned her three children at around 6:40 pm on Monday and then attempted suicide by consuming poison herself. However, the exact cause of the incident is yet to be ascertained.

Police said that they are collecting evidence from the spot and further investigation into the incident is underway.
