KMC Urges Citizens Not To Burn Plastic Waste

Apr 22, Kathmandu- Kathmandu Metropolitan City has urged residents not to burn garbage in open spaces.

The city has urged residents not to burn garbage indiscriminately as the smoke emitted from plastic waste is harmful to human health.

Sarita Rai, head of the city's Environmental Management Department, said that polluted air is most harmful to children, senior citizens, and those with respiratory and heart diseases.

She urged residents to dispose of all types of garbage in vehicles coming to collect garbage from the city. Rai also urged industries to comply with the 'Pollution Control Standards, 2081'.
