Apr 22, Kathmandu- Kidney transplant service has started at Bheri Hospital in Nepalgunj, Banke from today. Hospital Chief and Medical Superintendent Dr. Nirajan Subedi informed that kidney transplants have been started for the first time in the hospital.
Two patients have undergone kidney transplants today. A team of 14 people, including Dr. Pukar Chandra Shrestha, Director of Shahid Dharmabhakta National Transplant Center, has reached Nepalgunj for the kidney transplant.
With the start of the service at the hospital, patients will no longer have to go to their homes for kidney transplants, said Dr. Subedi. Currently, 20 to 25 kidney patients are undergoing dialysis at Bheri Hospital daily.
Bheri Hospital Management Committee Chairman Birendra Bahadur Shah said that kidney transplant is a significant achievement of the hospital and has raised hope for treatment for patients.
