Apr 24, Kathmandu- The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has said that it is difficult to manage electricity at present and that it will improve soon.
The NEA has issued a notice stating that Nepal has not been able to buy as much electricity as it wants due to the high demand for electricity in India since the onset of summer.
The NEA is confident that the current problem will be resolved soon as the flow in Nepal's rivers and canals is expected to increase soon and electricity supply from India is also expected to increase.
According to the NEA, due to the low flow of rivers and canals during the dry season, the average domestic production including reservoirs and solar energy is 1,175 megawatts.
The current peak demand (peak load) is 2,077 MW and the current maximum production is 1,593 MW.
The electricity that is not enough is being imported from India and supplied. However, the NEA has stated that Nepal has not been able to buy as much electricity as it wants due to the high demand for electricity in India since the onset of summer. The NEA says that the demand has also increased due to the IPL being played in India.
The NEA says that there are currently some difficulties in electricity management. Although there has been partial load shedding in the industrial sector for some time, maximum efforts are being made to manage demand and supply.
