Apr 25, Kathmandu- A motorcyclist has died after being hit by a tipper in Haraincha, Sundarharaincha Municipality-1, Morang. The Haraincha Bazar has become tense after the incident.

According to the police, a tipper (Na 1 Ka 6270) hit a motorcycle (Province 1-02-053 Pa 7010) in Haraincha Bazaar on the Biratnagar-Biratchowk road section on Friday morning.

The driver, 40-year-old Mahmad Hasim Mia of Duhabi Municipality-9, Sunsari, died on the spot when the tipper, which was coming from Biratchowk towards Biratnagar, hit him from behind.

Following the accident, locals have been protesting by blocking the Biratnagar-Birat Chowk road section. The crowd has not allowed the body to be taken away from the road. Locals, armed with spears and sticks, have tried to set the tipper on fire.

A large number of Nepal and Armed Police and Traffic Police have been mobilized to the scene. The traffic police have said that they are diverting vehicles plying on the road section to other destinations.

Morang Police Spokesperson DSP Ved Prakash Joshi said that the protest is currently underway with demands such as stopping the tipper's tyranny, banning the operation of tippers on the road, compensation for the deceased, and action against the driver.

As tensions escalated, a team led by DSP Madan KC has been mobilized to the scene to control the situation. The police initially suspect that the accident occurred due to the speed of the tipper loaded with ballast.

According to the police, it has been revealed that Abhishek Giri of Biratnagar has been renting a tipper of Kanchharam Construction and using it to transport construction materials. The tipper driver, Pawan Yonjan, has been taken into custody by the police.
