Apr 25, Kathmandu- Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba has said that the talk of a change of government is just a rumor spread by someone.
After returning home today after attending a United Nations program organized in Bangkok, Thailand, she told reporters at the airport, “There is no possibility of a change of government at the moment, it could be a rumor spread by someone.”
When asked about the talk of a change of government in Nepal after Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba went to Bangkok, Minister Dr. Rana clarified that he did not go to Bangkok for any political meeting but for a regular health check-up.
Stating that she had also read the rumors about a change of government in the news, Minister Dr. Rana informed that Congress President Deuba had spoken to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on the phone on Thursday.
Foreign Minister Dr. Rana returned home today after chairing the 81st session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCO). In this context, she also chaired a special meeting of the Least Developed, Landlocked and Small Island Developing States. On the occasion, she presented Nepal's views on issues of common concern to these countries.
On the occasion, Foreign Minister Dr. Rana said that she felt that the views expressed by Nepal on the occasion had helped in promoting national interests by enhancing Nepal's identity and representation in international and regional forums. She informed that she had met ESCAP Executive Secretary Arminda Salcia Alisjabana on the sidelines of the event and during that meeting, she had praised ESCAP's role in regional and international cooperation for the economic and social development of the Asia-Pacific region.
Foreign Minister Dr Rana said that during the visit, she met with the United Nations High Representative for the Least Developed, Landlocked and Small Island Developing States Rahab Fatima and discussed various issues of mutual interest. Also, during this visit, she informed the United Nations member states, international organizations and civil society representatives about the 'Sagarmata Dialogue' that Nepal is going to organize in Kathmandu from Jestha 2nd to 4th and invited them for high-level participation.
