Apr 27, Kathmandu- A scuffle broke out between police and teachers in the Baneshwor area today after the protesting Nepal Teachers Federation attempted to break the restricted area.
The teachers and police clashed on the 26th day of the ongoing protest demanding the promulgation of the School Education Act. The federation continues the protest after talks with the government yesterday failed to yield results. The police fired water cannons after teachers tried to break the restricted area and threw stones at the police. The teachers had announced that they would break the restricted area today. They were stopped by the police after they were preparing to break the restricted area and enter the parliament building. The teachers who came to protest at Maitighar in Kathmandu today chanted slogans such as "fulfill the demands of the teachers and promulgate the School Education Act".
