Clash between teachers and police: More than a dozen teachers injured

Apr 27, Kathmandu- The teachers responded by pelting stones at the police after the police used water cannons and force to disperse the crowd. Earlier, on Saturday, there was an attempt to break the restricted area. The teachers' protest has turned the Baneshwor area tense. More than a dozen teachers have been injured in clashes with the police. Tula Bahadur Thapa, general secretary of the Nepal Teachers' Federation, said that the teachers injured in the clashes are receiving treatment.

The teachers with serious injuries have been asked to be taken to the Civil Hospital for treatment, while the teachers with minor injuries are being treated at the protest site. After they tried to break the restricted area in New Baneshwor, the police lathi-charged the protesting teachers and school staff and threw water cannons at them. The teachers retaliated after the police used force. They pelted stones at the police along the road.

Meanwhile, the Nepal Teachers Federation has called an emergency meeting after the clash with the police. The federation called the emergency meeting after the protest turned violent. The meeting has been called at Ratna Rajya Secondary School in Baneshwor at 3 pm today. The federation's office bearers, district chairmen, and office bearers of the protest mobilization committee have been invited to the meeting. The meeting will discuss today's incident and the overall protest, informed Federation President Laxmikishore Subedi.
