May 01, Kathmandu- Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said that she wants to contribute to the nation for the rest of her life as she has passed the age of householder.
Referring to the issue of whether the parties in power have become party-centric, he said that we should all focus on our national aspirations rather than individual aspirations and ambitions.
"It is natural for there to be many political parties in a party system. However, in a situation where no party has a clear majority, governments keep changing rapidly, and small parties are bargaining for power and authority, it seems necessary to bring a sustainable program with national consensus to improve the situation," she said.
Stating that the government has started the process of introducing long-term, short-term and immediate programs with a sense of responsibility, former President Bhandari said that it is time to think about the challenges that may arise due to the rapid migration in recent days while addressing the growing demands and facilities of the people.
"While leading an important sector of the state, I would also like to give the same advice to the political parties. We will have to think in a timely manner in the definition of development. The new generation today wants development at a faster pace. The situation is not like before, and the responsible parties need to pay attention to that", she said.
Stating that the electoral system is not the fault of the country for the lack of political stability, she said, "This is just a matter of individual minds. Many parties won, what is wrong with that? Whoever wins, Nepalis will win. Even if the parties work together for five years, it will be okay". She pointed out the need to improve the education and health sectors along with the country’s existing development framework.
