May 02, Kathmandu- The government is planning to vaccinate children under the age of five who are exempt from vaccination on Baisakh 15.
Dr. Abhiyan Gautam, Head of the Child Health and Vaccination Branch of the Department of Health Services, informed that nine types of routine vaccinations will be administered to missed children. “We are vaccinating children under the age of five who have missed regular vaccinations on Baisakh 31,” he said. “On that day, children who have missed regular vaccinations in the past will be vaccinated.”
In Nepal, 95 percent of children under the age of five have been fully vaccinated. Branch Chief Dr. Gautam said that the remaining five percent of children will be identified and vaccinated.
The Ministry of Health and Population has urged parents to take all their children who are exempt from vaccination to the nearest health facility to get vaccinated.
